Common questions. Straight answers.
What EV drivers should confirm before accepting roadside help. If your question isn't here, call with the vehicle, symptoms, and exact location.
How fast can you get to my location?
How soon can someone reach me?
That is up to the operator we connect you with, and it depends where you are. Backcountry and mountain locations are a long drive for anyone. Ask the operator for a time once you are connected, because they are the ones driving to you.
What's your service area?
Charge Pro LA accepts referral requests across Los Angeles County, including coastal, inland, East County, South County, and backcountry communities. The matched operator confirms availability and access for the exact location.
What happens when I call the line?
Share the make, model, model year, charge port, exact warning or symptom, displayed battery level, and location. Charge Pro LA matches the request with a licensed, independent local EV charging professional. The operator confirms availability, compatibility, service, price, and timing directly with you.
Can you rescue on a freeway shoulder?
Roadside work depends on the exact location and current safety conditions. The California Highway Patrol says to call 911 when a disabled vehicle is in a dangerous location or traffic lane. In a metropolitan area, a driver outside that situation can call 511 and say 'Roadside Assistance.' Share the direction, nearest exit, precise pin, and lane or shoulder position with any provider.
How does mobile EV charging actually work?
How does a mobile rescue actually charge my EV?
Charge Pro LA does not own charging equipment or perform the work. The matched operator confirms the available charging level, connector, approved adapter, and vehicle compatibility. Share the exact EV and port before the operator accepts the job.
Does this work for non-Tesla EVs?
It may, but compatibility must be checked by make, model, model year, charge port, equipment, and adapter approval. J1772 and J3400, also called NACS, can be used for AC charging. A CCS vehicle inlet uses the J1772 portion for AC and additional lower pins for DC fast charging. A brand list alone is not enough to confirm the setup.
Is this a DC fast charger?
Ask the operator. AC Level 2 and DC fast charging use different equipment and charging paths. Do not assume a connector or adapter works for both. The operator must confirm the charging level and whether it can meet a practical destination for your exact vehicle.
How much range do I get from a rescue?
There is no universal range or time result. The U.S. Department of Energy says charging time varies with battery state, battery capacity, the vehicle's onboard charger, equipment output, and electrical service. Ask the operator what equipment is available and what result they expect for your EV and destination.
What does an EV rescue cost?
What does a rescue cost?
Charge Pro LA doesn't set the price. The independent operator quotes and bills you directly. Confirm the service, travel, payment terms, and any additional charges before authorizing work.
Does it cost more in east county or the mountains?
The operator decides whether distance, access, or other conditions affect the quote. Share an exact pin, route, nearest junction, and any gate or road restriction, then confirm the full price before the operator sets out.
Is this covered by AAA or insurance?
Do not assume coverage or reimbursement. Check the current terms of your membership, manufacturer program, or insurance policy for the exact event and provider. Ask the operator what documentation they can provide, but confirm eligibility with the company that issued the coverage.
How do I pay?
You pay the operator directly, not Charge Pro LA. Ask what they accept when you're connected, because it varies by operator. Settle the price before any work starts.
What if my Tesla screen is black or won't charge?
My Tesla screen is completely black. Is the main battery dead?
A dark screen does not prove which battery or component caused the problem. Tesla low-voltage battery type and procedure vary by model and model year. Share the exact vehicle, warnings, charging state, and symptoms. The operator should confirm whether low-voltage help, charging, transport, or service is appropriate.
What's the difference between you and Tesla Roadside Assistance?
Tesla's current support page directs owners to request roadside help in the Tesla app and says out-of-range assistance is not financially covered. Charge Pro LA provides an independent referral. Compare the service offered, coverage, destination, price, and timing shown by each provider for your actual request.
My charge port won't open. What now?
Do not assume the cause or use another model's instructions. Check the current owner's manual for the exact Tesla model and year, note any warning text, and tell the operator whether the car responds in the app or on the touchscreen. The operator must confirm the correct access procedure.
Will running my Tesla to 0% damage the battery?
A displayed 0% does not diagnose the battery's condition. Follow the current Tesla instructions and do not assume the vehicle will behave normally after it accepts power. If warnings remain, the car will not accept a compatible charge, or it cannot enter the required state, arrange the service or transport recommended for that vehicle.
Can I book a mobile charge in advance?
Can I book a mobile charge in advance?
You can request a scheduled referral. Share the vehicle, charging goal, exact location, access requirements, and requested window. The independent operator decides whether to accept the work and confirms equipment, price, timing, and terms directly with you.
Do you serve fleets?
You can request a fleet referral. Describe the vehicles, model years, ports, site, charging goal, access, and schedule. Charge Pro LA does not promise recurring capacity or equipment; the independent operator decides whether to accept the request and provides the quote and terms.
Can I hire you for an event or film shoot?
You can request an event or production referral. Share the vehicles, ports, charging need, site plan, access rules, requested window, and on-site contact. The independent operator decides whether the request is workable and confirms equipment, price, timing, and terms.
