The show is over and the garage is emptying. Your EV won’t wake on Prairie Avenue after a long park at SoFi Stadium or Intuit Dome. Screens stay dark. Handles stay dead. The traction pack may still hold a real charge. The small 12-volt battery that boots the computers is the part that quit. EV roadside assistance in Inglewood is usually that 12V call, not a pack that hit zero on the 405.

A stadium sit drains the 12V, not the pack

Tens of thousands of cars park for games, concerts, and Intuit Dome nights. Plenty of those cars are Teslas, Rivians, Hyundais, Fords, and other EVs. The high-voltage pack can sit untouched the whole evening. The 12V is what fails.

Every modern EV keeps a small 12-volt battery for locks, computers, and the wake signal. Tesla, Ford, Rivian, Hyundai, GM, and the rest all work that way. When that battery sags, the car acts like a brick. The charge port may stay shut. The app may show the car offline. You can’t drive, even with miles still in the pack.

Event parking makes that sag more likely. Sentry mode, cabin overheat protection, and phone pings keep drawing from the 12V for hours. A hot, dry basin evening adds load. Inglewood summers put air-conditioning demand on 90F-plus days. A pre-cooled car can keep those systems alive longer than the 12V likes.

Travelers see the same pattern after a long sit in an LAX garage. Chargers in the lot don’t prevent a 12V failure. A dead 12V isn’t an empty pack.

For the failure itself, read what happens when an EV 12V battery dies.

Prairie Avenue, SoFi, and Intuit Dome

Inglewood sits in the South Bay and Harbor area. The U.S. Census ACS count puts the population at 105,575. The stadium district sits on Prairie Avenue. Century Boulevard, Manchester Boulevard (SR-42), and La Cienega are the other main cuts. The I-405 and I-105 interchange sits on the west side of the city.

After a night game, that grid crawls. Slow traffic on Prairie and on the ramps uses energy if the pack was already low. Cabin cooling in basin heat uses more. Those are real range drains on the drive out. They aren’t the garage failure.

The garage failure is a car that won’t boot. You can’t creep to a public stall if the computers are asleep. You also can’t take a charge if the port stays locked.

Private event lots aren’t a freeway shoulder. California Vehicle Code 22658 lets a lot operator tow from private property. The required entrance signs and written authorization have to be in place. If you return before the car leaves the lot, the tow has to stop. Storage rates can’t exceed law-enforcement-approved rates. Read the posted rules on the way in. Don’t assume a dead EV can sit until morning.

A summoned rescue vehicle is the clean path. The operators we connect you with come to the stall.

We already published a SoFi-only walkthrough: EV dead in the garage after a SoFi Stadium event. This page is the wider Inglewood pattern, including Intuit Dome nights.

Dead 12V, empty pack, or a stuck port

A dead 12V looks like this. No lights. No unlock. No app connection. The last reading you remember wasn’t zero.

An empty pack looks different. The car still wakes. The display shows a low or zero number. You just can’t add enough miles to leave.

A third case is a cable that won’t release, or a port that won’t latch. That isn’t a battery problem.

Tesla owners often wait for Tesla roadside to send a charging truck. Tesla’s published roadside help is built around towing, tires, and some 12V support. Mobile charging isn’t the default in most markets. Confirm what your plan actually sends before you wait in an aisle. The local path is our Tesla 12V battery jump page when the car won’t wake.

Non-Tesla drivers have the same 12V layout. The operators we send bring a native NACS plug, plus CCS or J1772 adapters. They handle Tesla and every major EV brand.

The 405, the 105, and the crawl out

If the car does wake and the pack is low, the next risk is the interchange. The I-405 and I-105 junction is the west-side funnel out of Inglewood. Event traffic stacks there. Low-speed crawl uses energy you didn’t budget.

Surface streets do the same job when the ramps jam. Century Boulevard runs toward airport jobs. Manchester (SR-42) cuts east-west. La Cienega takes overflow when Prairie is packed.

Metro Freeway Service Patrol roams congested LA County freeways. The service is free. A patrol can change a tire, offer a gallon of gas, or tow a disabled vehicle to a CHP-chosen safe spot. The published motorist list doesn’t include mobile EV charging or an out-of-charge boost. An empty EV on the 405 gets a tow to a safe location, not a charge. Dial 511 and say Motorist Aid if you need that freeway tow.

If you’re stopped on a freeway, California Vehicle Code 21718 generally bans parking there. A disabled vehicle that has summoned help is an exception. Keep hazards on. Stay out of live lanes. The move-over law, CVC 21809, requires other drivers to change lanes or slow for a stopped service vehicle with lights on.

Home streets after the encore

Away from the stadium district, Inglewood is a compact city, just over 9 square miles. Named areas include Morningside Park, North Inglewood, Fairview Heights, and Century-La Brea. Census figures show 78.3 percent of housing was built before 1980. A lot of those panels predate a dedicated EV circuit. Many owners charge at work, at a public stall, or not at all on event night.

That doesn’t mean Inglewood lacks public charging. It means a car that won’t wake in a garage can’t drive to the stall you had in mind.

Nearby cities see the spillover. Hawthorne sits next door. Gardena and El Segundo sit south and west. Culver City and the City of Los Angeles sit north. If you parked in Inglewood for the show, the stall is still an Inglewood problem. If the car dies on the way home instead, see EV roadside assistance in Hawthorne.

Winters here are mild. The range hit is heat and crawl, not mountain snow. Recurrent Auto’s testing shows cabin climate control is a main range thief in heat and cold. On a 90F-plus basin night, budget more than the sticker number for the drive home. That’s pack management. It’s separate from the 12V that never woke.

What the operator does in the stall

Charge Pro LA is a referral line. We match you with independent local mobile rescue operators. We don’t own trucks. We don’t employ technicians. We don’t set prices. The operator quotes you before any work starts and bills you directly.

They bring a 240-volt Level 2 source to the car. Tesla gets a native NACS plug. Other EVs get a CCS or J1772 adapter. A typical session adds about 10 to 20 miles of range in 15 to 30 minutes of charging. That figure is charging time at the stall. It isn’t an arrival time.

They can also jump or replace a dead 12-volt battery on site. For a stadium-garage brick, that’s often the whole job. Once the 12V wakes the computers, the pack that still had charge can drive you out.

They don’t promise a clock. Event egress on Prairie Avenue is slow for everyone, including a rescue truck. The quote you hear on the call is the quote.

A tow makes sense when the pack won’t take a charge or the port is damaged. Then a flatbed to a shop is the honest next step. For a car that only needs a wake or a short Level 2 boost, a tow is the long way around. More on that choice is in your electric car died: charge it, jump the 12V, or tow it.

What to do in the garage, in order

Stay with the car if the lot is still staffed. Note the level, the aisle, and a landmark inside the structure. Screenshot the last app reading if you have one. That helps the operator tell a 12V failure from an empty pack.

Turn off Sentry and cabin climate in the app if the car still responds. If it doesn’t respond, stop poking the fob. Repeated wake attempts can drag a dying 12V lower.

Don’t accept a jump from a gas car with random cables in the aisle. EV 12V jump points are model-specific. A bad clamp can damage the computers. Let the operator use the right posts.

If a lot attendant wants the stall cleared, say you’ve summoned assistance. Under CVC 22658, a tow should stop if you return before the car is removed. Get the lot’s posted rules at the entrance if you can. Call, then wait with the car.

If you die on the 405 or 105 shoulder, stay behind a barrier if one exists. Call through 511 if you’re in a live lane. Then call for EV help.

Call when the car won’t wake in a SoFi or Intuit Dome garage. Call when the 12V is dead on a Morningside Park driveway. Call when the pack is too low to crawl off Prairie after the encore. The number is (858) 925-5546. We connect you with a local operator who quotes the job before it starts.
